It’s been a long day. I’ve spent nearly 20 hours at my desk, wrangling the intricate code that makes up Cloudybright and my newer site.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch when you’re a freelancer. But if you’re really lucky, you find time to steal into the kitchen, pull the cast iron skillet from its hook, butter some really good whole wheat bread, and make a mozzarella and cheddar grilled cheese sandwich.

If you’re even luckier, it’s a warm spring day, and you live beside a hill of wildflowers. Slip off your shoes. Carry your sandwich outside. Lie on your back and watch the clouds fly by as you eat.

The work will be there tomorrow. And the next day. And the next. Spring, and its pleasures, will only be here a few more weeks. Enjoy it while it lasts.
