Dauphin Island, Alabama
Spent Sunday afternoon at Dauphin Island, marveling at the changes. It looks better than I’ve seen it in a decade — maybe longer. The dunes are being rebuilt, sea oats are sprouting, and new fencing is in place.
Tons of shops and residential complexes have sprang up as well, rounding out what appears to be a bright financial picture for a place I thought would never recover. It’s almost TOO populated now — a big change from the eerie desolation I experienced the last time I was there.
If I stay in Mobile, I have a feeling I’m going to be heading for the island a LOT.
