For all practical purposes, this image is a spectacular failure. I’m posting it mostly because I’ve spent so much time on it.
Nikon is notorious for handling reds in a very bad way, and this is why — they’re way too vibrant. In this case, they’re not even red, and despite the surreal colors, that’s pretty much how it came out of the camera.
So much for a Fourth of July shot. At least the cupcake was pretty good, if not a little sweet.
