Hearts are funny things — infinitely fragile, amazingly resilient. Even when you hold one in your hands, it’s hard to tell what’s inside.

Take these chocolates, for example. One contained passion fruit, and one contained raspberry. Neither are my favorite flavors. Though I handled them gently, I still ended up leaving grimy fingerprints across the surface. The humidity didn’t help — the more I fussed over them, the messier they got.

Looking deeply with a macro lens wasn’t a bright idea. The things I saw were scary. Hair. Dust. Every mistake I’d made, lying there in plain sight. I took what limited tools I had and patched it the best that I could. And in the end, I think it all worked out ok.

Still, macro + chocolate + cats = seventh circle of Hell. Just in case you were wondering or anything.
