Things I’m grooving at the moment:

The D80. For everything bad I’ve said about it, it’s a nifty little camera. Case in point.

The D80’s snazzy little remote. It’s very tiny, and I’ve already lost mine, so I paid $30 for another one to be shipped right away.

Extreme Moose Tracks ice cream — chocolate ice cream with Moose Tracks fudge-filled cups and swirls of Moose Tracks fudge. Need I say more?

Plugrá European-style butter. This stuff rocks. Hard. Very creamy and mild. Perfect on crusty French bread. Not so perfect on already ample hips.

CSI: New York. Two words: Gary Sinise. Why didn’t anyone TELL me? ROWR.

My office. Finished painting the walls Boston Legacy brown this week. Still have to complete the white trimwork and hang sheer blue curtains, but somehow it just feels right.

Most everything from P.O.S.H. Chicago. I can’t tell you how many nights I browse this site, dreaming of eating supper in an Amtrak dining car as it ambles through golden fields of wheat and sleepy one redlight towns.

Washing dishes. Don’t ask me why, but for some reason, this simple domestic task is bringing me excessive joy this week. Something about turning the very nice stainless steel pans over in my hands, dipping them into the soapy water while daydreaming, drying with the new vintage dish linens bought in Thomaston, placing the new silver in the drawer, wiping off the countertops and stove after a nice meal — it’s good stuff.

Happiness. Yeah. Despite the usual problems and stresses, I’m actually pretty happy. It’s nice for a change.
