I didn’t make the cookies. Rarely do. I have my moments of Marthaness, but the older I get, the more I realize that I’m not Martha, never will be. I like to cook, like to play in the kitchen, like to throw frosting and glitter and lights on everything that moves when the inclination strikes. The transition from Scrooge to Martha can be a little scary if you don’t know me really well.

And so it seems that last night the Christmas spirit crept upon me anyway. I bundled up in my new winter clothes and bounced out into the cold to shoot a party. I drifted into Publix, telling myself I needed something for supper but knowing I wanted Christmas cookies to photograph. I hurried home to write. I checked on a few online purchases, early Christmas presents for the Boston Girl, who’s been pretty good this year, in retrospect.

Blasting Christmas music this morning, I even have a slight inclination to finish decorating. There’s a whiff of excitement in the chilly winter air, and it suits me well. I have a few Christmas wishes of my own, and who knows? Maybe Santa will see fit to spread some cheer my way. 🙂
