Perdido Key, Florida
A boat may spend its entire lifespan on dry dock, waiting for a maiden voyage that never comes. Even the water’s salty wet kiss means little if a vessel spends ninety percent of its time tied to the moorings, hull corroding.
At what cost, safety? There are ports of call all over the world. Today, Perdido Key may as well be the edge of the earth. It seems so very far away.
Music: Down by the Water by PJ Harvey (lyrics)
