It’s funny how one day can be so very different from the next.
Today was an excellent day, filled with all the things I like best. And as I assembled this shot in my front yard, I thought about the many ways my life has changed from last year. I have a cool new client that leaves me smitten with desire after every interaction and a potential new client that promises to bring life back to my shooting. I have a house that has its share of problems, but can easily fall into the “cottage charm” category if I remember to slip on my rose-tinted glasses. I have six kitties that make me laugh with their antics and two goldfish that seem determined to live, despite my best attempts to kill them. I have a new D1X that threatens to absolutely SMOKE my old D1H, and a head full of halfway good ideas.
And I have friends.
The one who cleaned my camera till it looked brand new after I returned from drenching it in salt water in Pensacola (“Girl, this thing looks like it’s been to IRAQ!” he said.)
The one who sold me his D1X today for way less than he should have taken, throwing in a Lensbaby to boot (today’s shot is the first of many with the new camera).
The one who’s quietly always a phone call away, offering directions and the occasional cigarette, answering my frantic calls for help painting, stacking bricks, fixing stuff, or just keeping me company while I cook (or climb the walls).
And of course, the one who’s always waiting — to see if I slept well, to see if I shot well, to see if I feel well, just to see me — as whoever I feel like being for the day.
You all mean the world to me. Truly. I would have checked out long ago without you guys.
