“Last one,” she said, slamming the lid on the empty box defiantly.

“Oh, I imagine there are a few more lurking,” he replied. “But that’ll do for now.”

“What do you mean?” she asked. “I thought we were through.”

“Not by a long shot, missy,” he answered, pulling her to her feet. “But that empty box will do nicely for our next project.”

“And that would be…?” Her voice trailed off as she furrowed her brow.

“You know the answer,” he said, pushing her gently towards the door. “Question is, what are you waiting for?”

“To say thank you,” she whispered, tears glistening, voice breaking. “To say thank you.”
