In a few short hours I will be in Mobile. Tomorrow morning I will wake up in my childhood bedroom and this life — my life in Tuscaloosa — will seem like a faraway dream. It seems like a thousand years since last Thanksgiving.
So much has happened.
Still, there is much for which I am thankful.
I am thankful for the friend who makes me smile, makes me laugh, gives me hope, and makes my life better.
I am thankful for Nicholas, and the life that we share.
I am thankful for this house and the way it shelters and protects me during life’s storms.
I am thankful for our new landlords and the nice people who live in our neighborhood.
I am thankful that the decision was taken out of my hands and Boogie passed from this life quickly and with some of the grace he deserved. I am thankful that Nicholas and I were with him and that we had a lovely spot to bury him.
I am thankful for the other kitties who have tried to fill the void, especially dear sweet Alexander.
I am thankful for a new plan that I can’t wait to see take effect.
I am thankful for this website, and to Miklos for making it what it is today.
And lastly, I am thankful for each and every one of you, who give me a reason to keep shooting and a voice in the dark.
Words can never express my gratitude.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
