Scarlet Illusion

Things aren’t always what they seem, no matter how beautiful they may look from the outside. This Red Lion amaryllis appears flawless, brightening the dreary winter landscape with a breathtaking vision in scarlet.

It is only when you look at it closer that you begin to see the tiny scars upon the petals, notice the dusting of pollen that mars its velvety surface. It offers no fragrance and is poisonous if eaten.

Perhaps it is better not to look at things with a microscope. You may not have the truth, but at least you can keep your illusions. Life is a lot prettier that way.
