There are times when it would be really nice to have a studio, if for no other reason than to keep from totally trashing my living room every time I want to shoot something.
The artwork I was shooting arrived carefully packed in boxes, hence the newspaper and styrofoam everywhere. The lights were courtesy of Porfirio Solorzano, who never fails to answer my call for help and was kind enough to come over and help me set things up, wiring everything with Pocket Wizards.
The hardest part of all of this was keeping the cats out of it. They are born busy-bodies, and this proved to be almost too much temptation. The second hardest part was putting everything away. Quite honestly, I am not sure my living room will ever be the same again, but for now it will have to do because it is the biggest room in my apartment.
Looking back, I can see now that I needed to diffuse the top light more, light the backdrop, and knock the power down on the bottom light, but the job had to be completed today so there was no time for a reshoot. I learned a few things though, so I guess that’s the point.Music of the day: April Shoot Mix: Dark Days by The Perishers, Hey Pretty by Poe, Dice by Finley Quay and William Orbit, Dulab Rast by Turbo Tabla & Bassam Saba, Eastern Glow by The Album Leaf, Evening Rain by Moby, Haunted by Poe, Falling Out of Love at This Volume by Bright Eyes, Love and Peace or Else by U2, Lover I Don’t Have to Love by Bright Eyes, My Hometown by The Perishers, Not Coming Home by Maroon 5, Rain City by Turin Brakes, Summer Romance by Incubus, Wild by Poe, Sway by The Perishers, Take It Easy (Love Nothing) by Bright Eyes, Trouble Sleeping by The Perishers.
