Sometimes the only good thing you can say about a day is that it is over. Friday was an incredibly long day, made even more so by only two hours of sleep. It is now 1:30 a.m. and I suspect I will be looking at another long night. Hence the double post. It keeps me occupied, keeps me diverted until my brain and body reach an agreement to submit to the darkness of slumber.
Sometimes I feel like I am the only person awake in the entire world, waging an imaginary battle inside my head where my sanity is the playing field. Reluctantly, I traverse the narrow trails of memory, but the paths are always the same and none of them lead me to sleep. I light my candles and play my music. I write. I shoot. I read. I surf the internet. I pace the floors. I think. I remember. I forget. And before I know it, daylight has arrived, carrying in her golden arms the sweet respite of unconsciousness.
