So the Mobile project is finally complete, speeding its way to Boston as I type this. It is such a relief to no longer have it hanging over my head — it seemed like I should celebrate somehow, mark the occasion in some way. Hence the photograph.
I have worked so hard on this project, put so many hours into it, spent so much time shooting and editing and writing and proofing. It’s not about the money. Not about the fact that this was for my hometown. Not even about the prestige. No, this project was more personal. The kind that keeps you up at night. The kind that gets under your skin, takes you by the throat and leaves you drained, humbled.
But you know, at a certain point, you have to just let it go. Send it out into the world and hope. Hope.
