Starry, starry night… Well, maybe not. Actually, those pinpoint specks are hot pixels, the product of too long an exposure on a camera not really made for night photography. With a 60-second exposure, I ended up with quite a few of these.
I really haven’t done much night photography, but I have been inspired by the work of Bob at No Traces, John at Orbit 1, and David at Chromasia. I decided to leave the hot pixels in this time because I think the effect is kind of neat and works okay in this image, but I will need to do more research to figure out how to effectively get rid of them in post-production.
This photo was taken along the Black Warrior River at the Bama Belle Riverboat Landing.
