It is hard to believe, but this prison-like building is actually a denture factory. Years ago, I wanted to do do a photo story there. I thought it would be neat to see the teeth molds and watch the dentures being made. The owner flatly refused and hung up on me. I pass this building frequently, and I can only wonder at the miraculous goings-on that are hidden from view.

Were they afraid that I would divulge their secret recipe for long-lasting dentures, or did they just not want to be bothered that day? One can only imagine.

The furtive appearance of the building does little to dissuade my curiosity. Like the stray dogs that wander past its doorway, I am compelled to look, to slow down just a little as I pass.

I always think that I will see someone coming or going, catch a glimpse of the inner workings of this mysterious shop, but I never do. Maybe that’s for the best. Some things just can’t live up to the imagination.
