Northport, Alabama
It rained Wednesday night as a cold front went through, leaving delightfully low temperatures in its wake. An unexpected trip to the grocery store provided the opportunity to take the macro lens along and experiment with my own version of raindrops, totally and unabashedly inspired by David J. Nightingale’s site, Chromasia.
For lack of anything interesting to put in the foreground, I just blurred out these two street lamps, resulting in sort of a sun/moon look. This shot wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, but I’m pretty happy with it overall. I especially like the way the raindrops look on the outer edges and the little flecks of light that appear in some of the droplets.
It makes me think of black gold for some reason. Best of all, it reminds me that summer is gone and winter is finally on its way.
Tonight was the first cold football game of the season, and it was awesome. Even better, I got to come home to hot macaroni and cheese and a nice warm bed. Not a bad way to end the week.
