This photo is a good example of how practice pays off. Every year I go to the fair, and every year I come back with lackluster photos because I refuse to take a tripod. Since I have been working on my daily photos, I have been using my tripod more and more in an effort to be more creative and break out of my tried and true ruts.
So far this week, I have used the tripod to photograph dishes, perfume bottles, cats, and water running in the sink (something tells me I have too much time on my hands).
As a result, the tripod is becoming more comfortable to me, almost an extension of myself, which made it an obvious choice to throw in the trunk tonight for tonight’s assignment of the West Alabama State Fair. Although I know this type of shot is a cliche, it is a first for me and I am pleased with it.
My car may be totaled and the ATM machine may have eaten my debit card today, but I got the shot I have wanted for years. Life’s not so bad.
